Activity 5.1 – Six Things to do to Save the Planet

Solution Category

Solution Description

Spiritual

There are many efficient ways to protect the environment educationally, conservatively, and economically. One efficient way would also be provided for the environment spiritually. Spiritual meaning guidance through a religious or innate spiritual teaching for the protection of the environment. By cultivating a spiritual connection with the environment, it allows you as an individual to reassure the attitude upon religion or religious beliefs.

In the words of Lyla June, “Planting a dream Panting, I breathe. Running towards the future with a handful of seeds.” (June, 2018)

This music video allows you to see in a religious and spiritual way how their ancestors would provide everything for the environment. It is a reassuring gesture on how the environment is important.

Perception

There are many views on how the environment should be treated. The well known way to view it is through a different perception. Perception means creating an image environmentally and providing positively towards that action.

WWF International (World Wide Fund for Nature) which is a non-governmental organization which works in the field of wilderness preservation and the reduction of human impact on the environment. Working in nearly 100 countries allows environmental issues a top priority.

“We need to do something unprecedented to achieve a sustainable existence on earth” (WWF International, 2019)

This video allows you to process and educate yourself on what is going on in wildlife and ways we can prevent harmful actions towards the environment.

Collaboration

By providing towards the environment, one must collaborate with ideas, knowledge, and well known creativity. Collaboration is the key to allowing industries, businesses, and possibly the government to accomplish a shared objective.

Jason Clay states, “The issue isn't what to think, it's how to think. These companies have begun to think differently. They're on a journey; there's no turning back. We're all on that same journey with them. We have to really begin to change the way we think about everything. Whatever was sustainable on a planet of six billion is not going to be sustainable on a planet with nine” (Clay, 2010).

Allowing big brands to help save biodiversity is one step closer to allowing motivational thinking to the world.

Conservation

The environment runs on a lot of conservation provided by us humans and technology. Conserving is the practice of preserving the natural world to prevent it from falling apart.

Lana Mazahreh states, “As more countries which used to be more water rich are becoming water scarce, I say we don't need to reinvent the wheel. If we just look at what water-poor countries have done, the solutions are out there. Now it's really just up to all of us to take action” (Mazahreh, 2017).

The connection towards conservation and water allows you to take a glimpse on one specific solution towards the environment.

Economic

Economics refers to creating financial incentives either in a positive or negative way. It also refers to external economic factors that influence individuals.

Shubhendu Sharma states, “This forest grows as a collective. If the same trees -- same species -- would have been planted independently, it wouldn't grow so fast. And this is how we create a 100-year-old forest in just 10 years” (Sharma, 2016).

The initial background story about growing a forest in your back yard allows you to view the endless possibilities for economic growth as society.

Public/Informal Environmental Education

Public/Information Environmental Education allows you to broadly inform people about environmental problems, solutions, and causes.

Jane Goodall states, “You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make” (Jane Goodall, 2017)

This inspirational journey through a documentary view allows you to publicly inform and educate students, society, and the world to see through the eyes of a different society connecting within the environment.
